About Carol Wiley

My range of writing and editing experience means you can be confident that I will help you develop the written materials you want. I began my writing career in 1990 as a technical writer for Boeing Commercial Airplanes, based on my experience as an aeronautical engineer. For a year, I rewrote airplane maintenance manuals into Simplified English, and then spent almost two years writing specifications and related documents for the 777 airplane.

After leaving Boeing, I did contract technical writing and editing for a number of companies in the Seattle area, including Microsoft (I worked on MSN, Flight Simulator, and Windows CE), for the rest of 1990s. I wrote and edited user manuals, knowledge base articles, procedures, white papers, and more.

In the 1990s, I also edited three traditionally published book anthologies of essays and had articles published in a number of small publications.

In 1997, I became a licensed massage therapist, and I worked my last tech writing contract in 1999. After taking a break from writing for a few years, I began web content writing in 2003. At first, the writing was for my own websites and to promote my massage practice. Then, I expanded my writing services to other content sites and transitioned to full-time freelance writing in 2009.

I turned my massage business site into a Massage Therapy and Healthy Living site and have written two related e-books: Self-Care: Living a Healthy Life through Massage, Somatics, Exercise, Stress Management, and More and Using Aromatherapy and Essential Oils. I also developed a website related to DIY home tips over a three-year period and sold that site in April 2010.

Sites that I have written for on assignment include healthtree.com, Fenomenal Rice and Sugar Traders, and a number of educational sites for XYZ Media. A couple of other interesting assignments include writing a press release for an Indian food website and a brochure on finding a qualified massage therapist in Washington state.

I enjoy providing concise, readable information that people can use. I am reliable, professional, and easy to work with, and strive to give my clients just what they want.

Whether you hire me to write short blog posts or articles or to edit a 200-page technical manual, your project receives the attention it deserves, and I take special care to work closely with you to ensure you receive what you want.
